چکیده

As interconnect line width and spacing decreases and operating clock rate increases, interconnect has become a bottleneck in developing high-speed integrated circuits, multichip modules, printed circuit boards, and systems. With small line spacing, mutual capacitance and inductance approach the level of self-capacitance and inductance, and can severely degrade signal integrity. The well-known equalizing filter method can significantly improve signal integrity. This thesis explores the effectiveness of equalizing filters in cross-talk cancellation for high-speed, off-chip buses. It demonstrates that linear programming provides effective methods for designing cross-talk canceling equalizing filters that greatly increase the bandwidth of high-speed digital buses.

Equalizing Filter Design for High-Speed Off-Chip Buses

On-chip speeds and integration densities have grown exponentially over the past several decades creating a corresponding demand for high-bandwidth, chip-to-chip communication. Compared with integrated circuit technology, the technologies for chip-packaging, printed circuit boards, and connectors improve at a much slower rate. This results in a big and growing gap between the I/O bandwidth neede...

A Stereo Crosstalk Cancellation System Based on the Common - Acoustical Pole

Crosstalk cancellation plays an important role in displaying binaural signals with loudspeakers. It aims to reproduce binaural signals at a listener’s ears via inverting acoustic transfer paths. The crosstalk cancellation filter should be updated in real time according to the head position. This demands high computational efficiency for a crosstalk cancellation algorithm. To reduce the computat...

Inverse Filter Design for Immersive Audio Rendering Over Loudspeakers

Immersive audio systems can be used to render virtual sound sources in three-dimensional (3-D) space around a listener. This is achieved by simulating the head-related transfer function (HRTF) amplitude and phase characteristics using digital filters. In this paper, we examine certain key signal processing considerations in spatial sound rendering over headphones and loudspeakers. We address th...

Memory Truncation and Crosstalk Cancellation for Efficient Viterbi Detection in FDMA Systems

In this paper, the design of optimal receive filter banks for frequency division multiple access (FDMA) over frequency selective channels is investigated. A new design strategy based on the principle of memory truncation, rather than equalization, is presented. Through the receive filters, each subchannel is truncated to a pre-defined length, and the final data recovery is carried out via low c...

A 125-MHz Mixed-Signal Echo Canceller for Gigabit Ethernet on Copper Wire

A discrete-time analog echo canceller is described that reduces the echo in the front end of Gigabit Ethernet twisted-pair interfaces. Echo cancellation in the analog domain by means of four taps reduces the complexity of the digital echo canceller and crosstalk cancellers. Designed in a 0.4m CMOS technology, the circuit employs an LMS algorithm to adapt to the cable length and impedance discon...
